I loved this horror game, thanks for sharing and good job!

you are so underrated im surprised no one has noticed you your games are one of the best horror games ive played in a while

Thank you so much for your kind comment.

I'm not one to excessively promote my projects, and perhaps that's one of the reasons. It could also be that the content in my games isn't something a famous content creator can easily exaggerate, they often prefer simpler and more digestible material for their audience. Maybe that's why I don't reach them.

However, I'm not aiming for that level. Whenever I make a game, I always give it my very best. :)

Hey BlueBird! Your impressive games and retro style caught our attention! Would you like to collaborate?

(+1)

Amazing game! Honestly it's very surprising this game is available for free, it's that good!

I loved the artstyle, it gives that macabre yet surreal feeling to the game. And the intro was sequence was awesome (though I did get stuck there for a bit lol)

I have very little to complain, mostly that some parts don't guide the player properly, as there were I didn't know a room was in the scene or an item was interactable or not, it's a small thing but I was almost quitting during the bedrooms parts... (couldn't find HIS room becuz it was squished to the left) If they glowed or had some kind of unique shader, it would've been perfect.

Overall this was made amazingly and with much love I can tell, so this is a solid 9/10 indie horror game for me, big props to the devs :)

Also is it just me or is the paper read sound quite familiar?

Thank you so much for playing Daniel's Nightmare, Mr. Solaire!

I know there are some parts that are a bit tricky or not very well implemented. I could have fixed them with an update, but the game has been up for quite some time now, so I don't think I will.

I plan to expand the universe of Daniel's Nightmare and the story behind "Augustine" (or "The Entity"), and its connection to some of my other games (both past and future). So, I’m really glad you enjoyed the game so much. :)

By the way, some of the sounds are from free-use libraries, so it's normal that they might sound familiar to you.

Good evening! Don't worry about it, I was just nitpicking some parts of the game, hopefully you guys will sort it out on your next games!
I'll be looking forward your team's next release :D And cute gif btw!

Really good game, the story is amazing and a really good plot twist. Would reccomend.

(Warning though, pretty dark)

(+1)

Absolutely loved this! The sound was fantastic, the visual style was excellent, the story was very dark and disturbing and the twist was very well done. Very good game all across the board. 10/10

(+1)

Wonderfully done. The atmosphere was very well done and the story was great. It had great sound design and also just felt very well done. My only complaint is the walk from the car to the house was a bit too long.

(+1)

Excellent Game. Atmosphere Is Top Notch.
(+1)

this game was scray for the start , the twist was very good as I pieced it together and the story was great .

good lil horror story !

I think the best word to describe this game is Mature. It's got an unsettling gradual progression to the truth (even though you might perceive it beforehand) that is impactful. Had it been longer, the build up to the revelation would have been more devastating in a positive way. Anyway, that's already fine like this. Keep it up,guys!

(+1)

Hi, GuyMirror!

Thank you very much for your comment and your opinion about Daniel's Nightmare. To be honest, the story itself was originally going to be a bit longer and give more context about what really happens with Daniel and his family, but that content didn't convince me and was discarded (among that content was a chase scene with "Augustine").

In my original plans, I was going to update the game if the story wasn't very clear and didn't end up being liked, but the opposite happened. The story captivated everyone, the gameplay, and its conclusion (which was what I feared the most wouldn't be liked).

Currently, I know the game tells the story and wraps it up within the game, but there is still room to delve deeper into how Daniel met Augustine and how his mental decline at Augustine's hands led him to commit the atrocity he did, sort of a prequel, to be honest.

But those are just plans, nothing concrete for now. Thank you so much for playing Daniel's Nightmare!

Wow! Thanks for sharing some trivia about the development of the game. It's always a pleasure to learn more about what's behind it. You know, I'm studying to be a game developer in Unity myself. Anyway, I can't wait to see more about your projects!

I think the environment and ambiance was nailed pretty well! The outside area, the house(s), were all very scary and very well done.

The music and sound effects all really worked together well to make it scary. The part where you enter the house and are trying to find the other person, was genuinely a terrifying time, the darkness, the sounds, they all made it so scary!

The only place where I would say that the game could have been better are the story itself and also the scares and beginning part. Starting off with the beginning part; I think finding the way forward was a tad bit confusing as there was no direct path or anything guiding the player on where to go. Also going all the way back to the car and then all the way back to the house felt like it took away from the scare; could have added more scares or something more than just the rabbit part to keep that tension constant.

The second thing was that the first part of the house felt very underutilised; there could have been scares fitted in there. Especially on how the camera movement while looking at the items was, it could have been incredibly scary.

Then the third part of the game gives the majority of the story, which wasn't paced very well and while it's a pretty cool story with a fun and interesting twist, it doesn't pace it well and there wasn't enough subtle connections from the beginning that gave the ending the punch that it deserves.

The above are just my thoughts on how some small things could be improved, but overall, it was a pretty neat game with great implemented ambiance and environments and sounds! A fun little horror experience!

Thanks, Lucifer!

Absolutely incredible, from the atmosphere it built, to sound design and its very unique visual style. Loved every part of it, didn't need jumpscares to be creepy and unsettling while also telling a good story. Now, I'm not sure if I simply didn't see it, but a volume slider would be nice. Also, the stamina bar would flicker when going from a room to another. But those are small details, overall this was one of the best horror experiences I've had on itch.io, excellent job dev(s)!

Great work emulating the Style and Gameplay, the way the scenes/interactions cut to a close-up is awesome. And the Art-Style is great aswell, very coherent and eerie.

The Story was a bit too clear, but i liked the way it was done. The interjections by his conciousness was great. Good Job and very fun Game.

The only thing that i didn't like was the Beginning, running all the way to the house, only to run back to get a crowbar, and then to the house again is probably the most annoying thing. Just to open the front door, and not use it anywhere else.

It was probably done to build atmosphere, and to read the note, but that's already on the radio at the start and could've been done in another way, because it doesn't add too much. The walk is already long and enough the first time. Having the crowbar in a shed nearby and putting the bunny jumpscare there would've sufficed.

Thanks! <3

I know the initial part can be a bit tedious. Originally, it was going to have a bit more content to prevent it from becoming so boring, but since I didn't like how that content was implemented, I ended up removing it.

An incredible game! Working with light, camera, and sounds is just amazing.

Good job. And funny running animation ;)

Good luck in further development!

Thanks, Domin0!

Really enjoyed the care that went into different camera angles. The opening cutscene and small scenes during gameplay are really lovely to watch; they make the experience immersive and captivating. I would love to see more games like this.

Thanks, Sake!

Once again you've come out with another banger!

I'm starting to think you have a thing for eyes when you make these games, just noticed it from your previous creations is all. Not judging, just a lotta eyeballs.

P.S Can't wait for the release of "The Moon Has Faded Away" been dying for that one to come out.

Please keep up your unique-style!

Thanks for playing "Daniel's Nightmare", Crooked!

I've always found eyes to be a world both beautiful and terrifying. I suppose it's something very much my own as a developer to emphasize eyes so much or to use them as a method of strangeness.

Great game!

Thanks for playing "Daniel's Nightmare", HorrorGamerYT!

Top quality game. From the gameplay mechanics, to the smallest details, this is a great piece of work :)

Thanks, Pizza Doggy!

Excellence in horror gaming!

Definitely, one of my favorite entries this year - the gameplay is immersive, the visuals are unnerving, the atmosphere is eerie and filled with tension, despair, literally took me a while to realize what was truly happening, because I felt like the character. Rarely do I see games tackle darker themes and execute them this well. Bravo!

Best of luck with the future developments and can't wait for more. Cheers!

Hi, Niven! Thank you so much for playing "Daniel's Nightmare".

I'm really glad you enjoyed it enough to consider it one of your favorites. To be honest, I put a lot of effort and love into this game, trying to detail everything as much as possible. At first, I was nervous because the story is quite disturbing, and the way it's told, is not so common on itch.io.

In this game, there are several references and connections to my other games, such as "The Raven", "Deep Fear", and "The Moon Has Faded Away". I hope you keep playing more of my games in the future. And, I'd also love to see more of your projects, they're excellent!

(+1)

This was really solid! Awesome story and amazing immersion. Really got hooked onto it. Only issue I had was walking back and forth to the car at the beginning lol. Made a video on it.

very good ! played just fine on a potato celeron

Incredibly creepy game! Shows a lot of growth from previous games particularly when it comes to the soundscape and cinematic style.

I'm glad I caught this one on the feed because it's well worth playing! (:

Thanks, Laud!
